It is quite ordinary to see games being pushed out of the holiday release slot in order to avoid tough competition. Mass Effect 3 has just fallen victim to this in its own delay. It is possible that Ubisoft did not want to release two games at the same time, the other game being Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, in order to avoid unneccessary competition between their own titles.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Pushed to Q1 2012
It was announced in Ubisoft’s investor briefing that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has been pushed from a holiday release slot to a Q1 2012 release window. No specific release date was given, so all we know is that it will be coming out from January to March 2012. CEO Yves Guillemot offered insight behind the pushed back release date by stating, “Due to a very competitive environment, we decided to move the game out of the Christmas quarter, and into the March quarter. It will also provide additional time to our development teams to realize their vision.”
