Rockstar, Mulholland Books Announce the L.A. Noire Short Fiction Series

Comic books are the tried and true trans media tie-in for video games, but there is a better fit for Team Bondi's upcoming Dashiell Hammett tribute. As such, Rockstar has partnered with Mulholland Books to create a collection of short stories based in the L.A. Noire universe, and an excerpt from the first piece is ready for reading today.

The L.A. Noire Original Short Fiction Series features new works by some of the genre's contemporary masters, including Lawrence Block, Duane Swierczynski, Joe R. Lansdale, Jonathan Santlofer, Joyce Carol Oates, Francine Prose, Megan Abbott, and Andrew Vachss.

The first installment, Megan Abbott's The Girl, is available in excerpt form today online and via downloadable PDF. The Girl features a character from the game, actress June Ballard, and her experience at an infamous Hollywood party.

The complete version of The Girl will be available later this week, and the remainder of the collection will be released through the May 17 launch of L.A. Noire. And on June 6, the complete collection of stories will be available for download at all major e-book retailers.
