R4i SDHC WiFi card now is compatible with the new firmware v1.4.2

R4i SDHC 3DS (red) card has finally resolved the previous problem of its 1.4.2 upgrade patch. Now if you have a R4i SDHC 3DS wifi (1.4.1) card on hands do not need to worry about the new firmware 1.4.2 issue. A new upgrade patch and a new kernel v1.38b have been put up on the official site. There is also video and instruction for users on how to upgrade the R4i SDHC 3DS 1.4.1 to 1.4.2. Moreover, the R4i SDHC 3DS card can also be used on DSi and DSiXL with new firmware 1.4.2 once you do the upgrade patch download.
Let me simply list down the upgrade steps as follow for your reference:
1) Format your microSD card with FAT32
2) Download the latest kernel of R4i SDHC 3DS v1.38b to your computer then extract it to existing folder on your desktop; Double click to open the folder, you should see a total of 4 files/icons; Copy all these and paste to the root directory of the formatted microSD card
3) Download the 1.4.2 upgrade patch (fwup142c.nds) to your PC as well, then copy and paste to the root of microSD also.
4) Put the microSD to the R4i card slot then insert to the slot-1 of Nintendo DS console. (Usually when doing upgrade, most of cards require the lowest model: DS Lite to first upgrade the r4 card, but this time I have tried doing the upgrade programming on buy R4i SDHC 3DS console which is fine too). But if DSi not work in your case, get a DS Lite to do it.
5) Power on the DSi/DS Lite console, then press A to run the fwup142c.nds upgrade file. Be reminded during the upgrading process, could not turn off the console. So it is advised to fully charged the ds console or having it plugged on while upgrading.
6) After upgrade done, the icon should turn to the spongebob when you put the R4i card.
