1. If you really feel like it you could buy another console but I wouldn't recommend that just yet, hang on to your cash. There a couple of other options to take a look at before you go rushing out.
2. Obviously you can send your console to Microsoft for them to carry out the repair. This option is ok if you don't mind being without your console for about 6 weeks while they repair it for you. Also if your machine is out of warranty, as many are by the time they develop this fault, you will be expected to pay in the region of $150 for the fix. I don't know about you I would rather spend that sort of cash on a couple of new games for my Xbox 360.
3. You may have heard about the towel trick from a mate. I would not suggest you do this as it can cause severe damage to your console if you do it wrong. Even if it works ( which it doesn't always) the 3 red lights normally show up a little while later. The towel trick involves wrapping your Xbox up in the towel then either turning it on allowing the console to heat up beyond recommended operating temperatures, or putting it in the oven and baking it for a short period of time. Like I said I wouldn't put my console in the cooker with the Sunday roast for no reason. So I wouldn't try this as you will probably end up buying a new console anyway.
4. The final option is for people who don't want to be without their Xbox 360 for 6 weeks or people who would rather spend the money saved on new games. Fixing the problem yourself without the console ever leaving the house. If you do not have experience in fixing an Xbox do not worry as there are many guides available that show you how to undertake the repairs. One such guide is written by James Dean and his guide has helped thousands of gamers like you fix their consoles quickly. It has step by step videos all in HD so you will never put a foot wrong.
Well now you have a few ideas to think about how to fix the 3 red lights on your Xbox 360. I hope you make the best one for your situation and get back to playing your games as soon as possible.
