Watch movies on your iPhone with the Scosche kickBACK iPhone case
One of my favorite things to do with the iPhone is watch movies. In the last couple of months I think I’ve watched more movies on my iPhone then on my TV at home. The only drawback to watching movies or videos on the iPhone is that you have to hold it in a landscape configuration, which can definitely be tiring after a while. Now the folks at Scosche have come out with a case that doubles as a stand for your iPhone in landscape mode: the Scosche kickBACK.
The kickBACK itself is more of a kit then a case, as it comes with two back panels (made of clear polycarbonate), rubber traction cleats for protecting the iPhone and case from scratches, a laminate screen, cleaning cloth and a removal key.
The reason for all of the accessories is that you can either use the kickBACK as a stand for your iPhone in landscape mode, or you can use it as just a case. The two back panels are interchangeable with the front panel so depending on your needs, you can switch them out.
In my tests I found the kit to be pretty durable and useful. I took my iPhone and put the back panel on it that includes the kickstand, and then put the front panel on. I then heard a series of clicks as I applied pressure around the case and the iPhone was locked in tight. To get it to stand horizontally you simply click out the kickstand.
The only issue I found with the kickBACK is the need to have two different back panels. While you can use the back panel with the stand on it at all times, it does seem slightly bulky. This is the reason that the company ships the other back panel. However, in order to remove the back panel you have to use the included removal key, since it’s impossible to separate the front and back panels from each other without it. This is good and bad. It’s good in that it’s a nice seal so you can bet your iPhone is protected; bad in that if you travel with the kickBACK you’d have to bring an additional panel and the removal key, which you could easily lose.
Overall though, you would buy the kickBACK for the purpose of being able to support your iPhone by itself in horizontal mode, so the added bulkiness is acceptable if that’s your end-game. I’m not a case person usually but the fact that I now have a built-in stand ready and waiting makes me want to leave the case on.
If you watch movies or videos on your iPhone, take a closer look at the kickBACK. It’s a must-have for those long flights.
